Bringing Up The Rear

I'm in a CD club.   There's thirteen of us, myself included.  We started the group back in January '09. Not everyone was able to distribute a CD for their assigned month (due to life and, in some cases, general lameness) but for those that delivered I have to say I was pretty impressed.   Second to seeing what selection of music someone chose, I totally dug taking in the overall presentation (how it was packaged, the title given, cover art, etc.).

Below are some of the CD's.  My favorite are the top two, especially the Jimmy Hoffa stencil on the mailer.

Now it's my turn.  I'm close to finishing the playlist and will post it here once it's done!

Those are awesome! I especially like the first one, is it silk screened?

How is the music and how did you get involved with the club?

It is silkscreened! That arrived in the Jimmy Hoffa mailer. I'm definitely glad that my assigned month wasn't right after that one as that's a hard act to follow presentation-wise. Damn!

The music has been completely across the board. A little bit of electro-dance, punk rock, ska, and rap mixed with a lot of R&B, garage rock, classic rock, alt. country and big band. It's certainly nothing like it is between you and I (I mean really - who can compare to us anyway? Duh.) but I've gotten a couple of neat songs along the way. I do wish though that there was more of a conversation between all of us about that month's playlist. Since our only communication is online I think conversations would've received a much-needed kickstart and shyness put at ease had there been a moderator. (Maybe that's expecting too much? Not sure.)

A friend of mine started the club and asked me to join. Besides her, I only know two other people so it's been cool to get playlists from people I don't even know.

That's awesome! So do you exchange with one person or do you end up making and mailing out a cd to each person on the list?

The latter - I now need to make and mail out a CD to the 12 other people. I'm close to being finished with my playlist. Next is coming up with the overall packaging (which I think is just as fun as coming up with the playlist!).
I think you'll recognize most, if not all, of the songs that I've selected!
